Final Project work in progress

working on the bigger pastel composition. Need to go back to the water colour and do something to the background. bit stuck on that. Needs something, but dont want to overpower.

This is the pastel drawing I started on this morning. I coloured in the back ground later on, but I'm thinking it looks better left alone.
Been doing the one on brown paper this morning

not finished, although im quite liking it how it is. might just do a little more.

water colour - which im warming to now ................

same piece, just cropped in

The one below is only a5, and my warm up piece. as usual i llike the small ones best

More Final / tutor led project work : wild flowers in pastels - W.I.P.!

Drawing some wild flowers in vase, using pastels. Bit stressful as the pic was meant to be a carefree, fast drawing but it has not been that at all! started off being a bit careful and have just got more and more painstaking! Using oil pastels (and one or two wax crayons) on brown paper. Will continue to add flowers but keep taking photos just in case all goes pear shaped...  this is prob approx a3?? big bigger maybe .

To have a brief respite I have mocked up a bedroom in the flowers! Bit OTT (who would have matching bed, lamps , blind................) but its fun!!!

drawing and watercolour whilst babysitting

Had a few quiet moments after putting floss to bed. Gangy (mum) saved the day - she spoke to floss on the phone to soothe her! (floss had started asking for mummy and daddy... i couldnt be firm with her at that point!!!!) Gangy suggested i told floss a story about her when she was little - then one about me when i was little. Told her how me and (aunty) soz used to get all our dolls out, dress them, put them in circle on blanket and give them a picnic. even managed to remember some names (sue - one eye, polyester, alice (??), and there was another funny name. cant remember) anyway all thats by the by. i sat down and drew moo's gorgeous gorgeous little roses. my drawings really dont do them justice, and they are unfinished and a bit rushed (although that usually enhances the look i find!). also i 'coloured' in a couple of drawings i did in porthy last week. all are A5.

tutor led project further painting 21st april

more painting today - not as fruitful as wednesday but ok! First pic is peonys that i did in oil pastel and wax crayon, and then painted over with black / blue watercolour. not sure about it yet.

I coloured the background very light pink on the one ive left at college. Used a tiny winy image from a dress in a magazine to do this pattern and added bits and pieces myself. all oil pastel. want to do some more stuff like this. keep meaning to build a collage up to make a vase of flowers. then will paint / draw that.

got loads of other ideas too. need to get on it!!!!!

TUTOR LED PROJECT 2

Still got loads to update from previous projects, but here is some preliminary work for our final creative project this year.  Having decided on a very loose brief of 'florals' I did lots of small sketches / drawings of flowers - most of which i didint like at all! Having been told to follow one style and work on larger pieces, this is what i've been working on.  They are paintings with water colour, food colouring, inks and bleach, also oil pastels and wax crayons and black pen to outline (at beginning). Im not sure where they are leading to yet - I am currently in the exploring and experimenting stage! They are all about a3 in size (poss a2)

Not overly keen on first one, although its grown on me. The colour of the flowers does not contrast enough with background??

This one (blue and purple background) I did using charcoal as outline. I like the freeness of the black lines. Inside the tulip is inks, watercolour and prob food colouring.  Background is chalk pastels.

Been having difficulty using quill type pen with ink. Think I did this with brush and ink (black). Then oil pastels and wax crayons for a little resist/ highlight before infill with watercolour and food colouring .

inks, water colours. some of the black lines too, errr, heavy? looks better like this than in the flesh.....
Need to do some more geranium paintings - the ones i have here are soooo pink, just like the bright ink pink ive got - its such a vibrant colour.

There were loads of bell flowers (my name for the flower) in cornwall last week. Dont know why i havent noticed them before. They were everywhere! so beautiful and the shapes when properly inspected are amazing. They look as though they were created for people to draw!!!! very satisfying. Huge amount of artistic licence in the colouring............. they are a light cream / nude colour in real life.

(for my reference... sketch first in black fineliner, went over some of the lines to make them thicker, then oil pastel / wax crayon green and orange for resist / brightness, then ink and watercolour / food colouring.

My favourite painting of the day (for my ref again - did all these in one sitting ) poppys i saw the other day. unfortunately i was running low on paper so u can just see the join marks. Charcoal outlines in black, and usual infill.

Not so keen on this one! just wanted to do something free and quick!!!!
